On 13 October, 2020, Vietmedical – a member of VMED Group accompanied Newborns Vietnam, awarded the Giraffe Incubator researched and developed by GE Health Care at Saint Paul Hospital’s Neonatology Department with the desire to bring more survival opportunities for Vietnamese infants.
Newborns Vietnam (NBV) is known as a UK non-governmental organization licensed to operate in Vietnam, with a mission to reduce infant mortality in Southeast Asian countries, especially in Vietnam. NBV wishes to create a world without the deaths of the newborns, a world where their presence is joyfully welcomed, where mothers as well as babies have the right to live and receive the best care. NBV believes that no matter where every child is born in the world, he/she deserves the opportunity to welcome his first birthday to become an adult who is independent, brave and able to contribute to the society in the future.
Sharing the same viewpoint with NBV in the mission “for a healthier and happier community”, Vietmedical accompanied NBV in many training programs as well as meaningful community activities. This event presenting the Giraffe Incubator represents Vietmedicl’s desire to equip the best knowledge and support equipment for newborn healthcare at hospitals in Hanoi as well as across the country.
Opening the event, MSc.Dr. Thai Bang Giang – Head of Neonatology Department of Saint Paul Hospital represents Saint Paul Hospital to send thanks to Vietmedical and NBV for giving the hospital a very meaningful gift.
In addition, Assoc. TS. Tran Ngoc Son – Deputy Director of Saint Paul Hospital also appreciated Vietmedical and NBV’s support through medical equipment donated in hospital such as hand sinks, incubators and intensive training support activities. Dr. Tran Ngoc Son hopes that this event as well as future collaborations will bring the best care for infants, keeping up with standards in developed countries.

During the program, Mr. Ngo Thanh Son – Deputy General Director of VMED Group shared: “On behalf of Vietmedical – VMED Group, on behalf of Vietnam’s children, I would like to thank NBV. The reason for accompanying NBV for many years is that Vietmedical recognizes the humanistic meaning and great effectiveness of the activities implemented by NBV for the Vietnamese health sector and newborns. In addition to the Giraffe Incubator donation program – the essence of newborn care of GE Health, Vietmedical will co-operate with NBV and Saint Paul Hospital to develop a comprehensive healthcare system including equipment, infrastructure and personnel training in the coming time.”
The Giraffe Incubator donation program is included in the NBV’s series of activities to improve the quality of newborn care in the system of hospitals in Vietnam. Ms. Suzanna Lubran – Executive Director of NBV gratefully shared: “Saint Paul is one of my favorite hospitals. Together with Vietmedical, your companionship always gives me a warm feeling. Vietmedical’s gifts are not only modern equipment or optimal solutions, but also co-operation to implement the mission for babies and community. We are proud of our achievements and believe that thanks to mutual co-operation, NBV, Vietmedical and Saint Paul will create miracles for our babies.
After donating the Giraffe Incubator, a team of technical experts visually instructed and practiced so that doctors at Saint Paul Hospital’s neonatology department get acquainted and understand how to use this optimal device. Being studied and developed by GE Health Care, the Giraffe Incubator creates an advanced neuroprotective and care environment – specially designed to give children the comfort and stability for their development. The Giraffe Incubator focuses on its core values: Ideal temperature environment; Minimization of negative impacts; Noise control and promotion of natural growth and development; Light control; Considering the family as a development and care center and bringing satisfaction to the patients.
In co-operation with NBV, by this gift, Vietmedical hopes that when leaving their mother’s warm embrace, all newborns will continue to be “cared and loved” in a safe and sweet environment.
